Foundations for the Future is an enduring national plan for securing Australia’s ecosystems. It is the vision of Australia’s ecosystem science experts. It is critical for our national wellbeing as our natural and modified ecosystems form the world where we live, play and work. They are the settings for our industry and the distinctive natural heritage that characterises the Australian nation.
The Plan defines the vision, key directions and priorities for a national ecosystem science capability. It enables Australia to understand and effectively manage its ecosystems for decades to come. It describes the national consensus by experts in the ecosystem science community. Extensive national consultation throughout our cities and regional Australia during 2013-2014 formed the foundations of the plan.
